Buying a Refrigerator?

Written By Hamsi on May 8, 2010 | 10:55 AM

Save energy by smart selection and usage
Energy Conservation Tips to be noted when you purchase a Refrigerator.

  1. Purchase a refrigerator of sufficient capacity that meets your storage needs.
  2. Check out the Annual Energy consumption. The lower the energy consumption, the lower your electricity is likely to be.
  3. Ensure that there is sufficient space for better airflow and ventilation on all sides of the refrigerator especially the back where the condenser unit is located.
  4. Cool the hot food before you place it in the refrigerator.
  5. Do not overload your refrigerator as it will disturb the proper air circulation within it.
  6. Test the door seal occasionally by closing the door on a thin piece of paper. If it does not stay in place, it has to be replaced.
  7. Whenever you need to use the refrigerator, plan what are the items you are going to place in it. Keep all of them near by. Do not open and keep the door fully. Open a little and place everything quickly. Opening the door often consumes the power and energy.
  8. Do not use heavy weight containers to store the stuff in refrigerate. Use less weighed plastic container with brand 5 to store.
  9. Do not refrigerate bananas and onions.
  10. Place a half lime in freezer to have a good aroma.
