Food for your Mood

Written By Hamsi on March 10, 2011 | 10:49 AM

The outcomes of depressions have forms as stress, anxiety, griveness and loosing temper. To control or return to a pleasant mood, I have seen most of them go for shopping, go for pub, eat a big meal, listen to music, go theatres and ofcourse go for alcoholic drinks. Apart from all these diversions there is something we can do that calms our mind and also refreshes us. Yes, a little effort from being in home itself we can turn to our normal mood through easy food habits. Here for your welfare.

Are you Stressed?

Take a deep breath and munch on some pumpkin seeds, flax seeds or walnuts. These foods rich in omega 3 helps body restore magnesium which increases the body’s ability to cope with stress. Also, plan grilled fish for dinner. It will help in soothing your nerves.

Too Anxious?

Sip on some lime water or dig into your favourite dish of potatoes. These are rich in B complex and vitamin C that helps provides relaxation. Avoid fried food or caffeine. Protein rich foods like grilled chicken or grilled paneer can also help to get over jittery nerves. Protein helps your body to create dopamine, which makes you alert.

So Sad!!

Grab a piece of dark chocolate. It will instantly boost your energy levels and leave you feeling perkier. Foods rich in magnesium like bananas and apricots will help too. Folic acid in the form of spinach or a cup orange juice will lift up moods too.

Oops! Angry?

To keep the temper under control, consume foods having cooling properties like cucumber or a cup of yogurt. A glass of chilled milk should do the trick too. Also stay away from aerated drinks and alcohol as they will aggravate the emotion.
Try this food guide and control your moods better!
