- Baby fat may no longer be the picture of health for infants born to obese mothers, according to researchers who say the newborns may face the risk of getting heavier as they grow up according to research presented at the Pediatric Academic Societies annual meeting in Vancouver.
- An analysis of close to a dozen clinical trials involving about 12,000 patients found calcium supplementation to be associated with a 20% to 30% increase in heart attack risk. - Experiments conducted at Bangalore-based Indian Institute of Science (IISc) pointed out that Salmonella bacteria that causes typhoid and other food-borne diseases, grew three times faster when exposed to 'curcumin', the main molecular component of turmeric.
