Breaking Commitments - A discussion from Author's point of View

Written By Hamsi on October 1, 2010 | 3:08 PM

Commitments takes various meanings as promise, pledge, assurance, obligation, vow, dedication, loyalty and it goes....
Upto me, commitments fall under two phases:
  1. Commitment made by us to others
  2. Commitment made by others to us
Of these breaking of any type of commitments leads to mental depression. First let me consider the second phase that is commitment made by others to us. I will explain with a real life incident of mine.
For everyone the weekend also means a lot. Again those days will be booked for so many self and obligatory commitments. That weekend we had lots of appointments for bank, hospital, monthly household purchase, extracurricular activities and ofcourse a party. And zero hour booked for relaxation.
We had a call from our close friend on Friday,' Hey, I am to be there by tomorrow for 2-3 days'. I welcomed her request and postponed all our appointments to next week . Ya, we even dropped the party as they were to stay at ours home for 2-3 days and we need time to take care and attend them. Isn't it? The next day with luch prepared, we were all waiting for them. Then I myself called her to check if she missed my address. I called her. She on the other side was very cool. Answered me 'Yes, what dear?'. I asked her if she was on the way to my home. She replied , 'O, I decided that I can be there by next week as I am bit lazy now'. Alas! What to say? Can you imagine my condition then?
Thats it Breaking commitments made by others to us.
To be continued.....
